The European Commission will give unrestricted online access to EU-funded research results under FP7 program.
Under this pilot, grant recipients in seven areas (energy, environment, health, parts of information and communication technologies, research infrastructures, science in society, and social sciences and humanities) will be required to deposit peer reviewed research articles or final manuscripts resulting from their FP7 projects into an online repository. They will have to make their best efforts to ensure open access to these articles within either six or twelve months after publication. The pilot covers approximately 20% of the FP7 budget and will apply to specific areas of research under the 7th Research Framework Programme (FP7), including Information and Communication Technologies (Cognitive Systems, Interaction, Robotics) and Research Infrastructures (e-Infrastructures).
